Morillon Summer

Summer in Morillon offers the opportunity to relax, unwind and take in some spectacular scenery. Situated deep in the beautiful Giffre Valley it provides the perfect base for you to explore this amazing area and the endless activities on offer for all age groups and abilities.

The local villages offer wonderful restaurants and markets and the surrounding area offers an array of beautiful towns to visit. Mont Blanc and Chamonix are only 45 minutes away.

Swimming/Recreation Parks

Le Lac Bleu Recreational Park in Morillon Village has a lake with its own beach (lifeguard during summer holidays), lovely wooded picnic area, volleyball, riding, quad biking, petanque and a terrace bar/restaurant. There is also an Adventure Park, where children and adults can climb and swing through the trees with zip lines, nets etc.

The park in Samoens is outstanding, with 2 large lakes for fishing/swimming & an outdoor swimming pool. Massive children's play area, archery, tennis, table tennis, volleyball etc. Masses of cycle paths and wooded picnic areas. Water driving range and 9 hole putting green.

Horse Riding

For keen riders there are many treks available along the River Giffre or through the mountains. An excellent riding center is located in Sixt offering a 2 hour ride past the Cascade waterfalls.

Rafting/Canoeing/Canyoning

The River Giffre provides some of the best white water rafting and canoeing in the French Alps. With its many gorges it is also ideal for canyoning, offering natural waterfall slides and excellent abseiling opportunities. Children over the age of 8 are able to participate in all these activities. There are several local professional companies that specialize in these water sports.

Potholing

One of the world's deepest potholes, the Gouffre Jean Bernard, is nearby.

Mountain Biking

With over 600 km of mountain bike tracks ranging from easy to very challenging, the area is perfect for all levels of mountain biking. The Grand Massif has four lifts open in July and August and 69 marked rails. Nearby Morzine has a Mecca for serious mountain bike enthusiasts.

Cycling

Bike hire is widely available there are 900km of walking/cycling tracks in the area, offering a variety of terrain.

Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata is a cross between walking and climbing and can be enjoyed safely by all ages. The routes above the beautiful village of Sixt are equipped with cables, ropes and ladders to ease you round this exciting cliff-face.

Parapenting (Paragliding)

Flights are available throughout the year accompanied by a qualified instructor. And almost anyone can do it, age 5 to 85!

Golf

There are many 9 and 18 hole golf courses within easy reach of Samoens, including a spectacular mountain course at Les Gets at an altitude of 1900m.
